“Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.””
In Genesis 1:6 The second day begins. On this day is when GOD lays the foundation of the firmament, creating the structure that separates what God calls the waters above from the waters below. This is the borders of the expanse. Where He speaks light into the darkness drawing its lines.
“And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.”
The use of the term (firmament) over the years has had many variations of its true meaning and the extent of its definition. "Firmament" is translated from the Hebrew raqiya, which is derived from raqa which means "to spread abroad, stamp or stretch." Raqiya means "an expanse."
As we take a closer look into the depths of the areas made known to us by God's word, we can see one recurring trait. That is “structure“ and by definition it means to construct or arrange according to a plan; give a pattern or organization to. We also know all structures that are built must have a firm foundation to rest on. The foundation being GOD and His word of truth. Knowing that in Him is no darkness nor evil as some call it. A set of boundaries have been placed because darkness has no place in the presence of God.
